Zenith Picture Gallery v0.4.3

This is the second bug fix update to the first public release. It has been tested on two servers running different versions of RedHat Linux and compiled with different PHP versions. If any bugs or problems are found, please post in the Zenith forum here. If they are about a security vulnerability, please PM me.

The next milestone release will be v0.5 and will contain the following features:

* Picture comments
* Picture ratings
* Ability to email photos
* Slideshow
* Support for Windows servers
* Improved debug mode (the current one is very modest)
* Firefox support for the thumbnail border changes.

Requirements:

* PHP 4.2 or higher.
* GD2 (if you want the gallery to be able to create thumbnails).
* MySQL 3.22 or higher.
* Linux.

Features of the current release:

1. Everything is done from the browser, from installation to configuration.
2. Searcheable records by filters.
3. Auto-resizing/resampling of images to thumbnails.
4. Easy skinning.
5. Easy management of languages.
6. The option to create moderator or admin accounts.
7. New categories can be added.
8. Blacklist containing IPs of troublesome users.
9. Admin CP allows you to define thumbnail and full-size image sizes, the ability to create thumbnails and other formatting options.
10. A notice appears in the nav bar to admins when there are pictures awaiting approval.
11. All public form fields are escaped.
12. Search result and display page addresses are linkable.
13. Gallery can be turned on/off.
14. Adding pictures can be disabled for guests.
15. Batch add pictures via FTP [ New in v0.4.2 ]

Wow....this is the best imagegallery avaible!

I've tried over 450 imagegalleries & none were easy to use, but Zenith Picture Gallery is da bomb!

Is the batchfunction something like that is searches an map & adds all the images of that map to a category? That would be great.

First...it's a very great gallery script!!

But i have some problems with the login. Most of the times the script doesn't recognize me as an admin-user.Sometimes it does, but after that, more then 10 times it doesn't work. How can this happen?

I first installed it on my local server,.....after that i installed it on the internet.

And maybe Jeroen can help me (i'm also from the Netherlands) with an upload-problem....(In dutch for Jeroen )(ik krijg de instellingen niet voor elkaar...telkens zegt ie dat ik de juiste rechten in moet stellen, terwijl ik dat al meerdere keren gedaan heb)

Hi Peter,

Do you allow it to remember you when you log in by ticking the checkbox? Also, do you mean that it keeps logging you out or does it give you a message that the username/password are invalid?

After everytime I log in, I get the screen that everything is correct, but when he goes to the redirect script, i get the index.php again, and I'm not logged in.

I cannot get to the admincp.php...........

hey by the way how did you change the top picture?

Just replace the logo.gif in the skins/default map.

Would it be possible to try asking someone on another PC to try logging in (or if you want, PM me your details and I'll try it from here) since it seems like it could because the cookie is not being saved on your computer, which means that the redirecting.php page cannot determine who just logged in and therefore, if the user is an admin or not.

If it still doesn't work after that, I can follow up with you via email or MSN/AIM if you want to see what might be causing it.

The way I am currently thinking of implementing it is to have a directory where you'd just drop all the images, and then the script automatically displays them with default names, spanned across x pages. You would then be able to make any changes you want to each image. Once the changes are approved, the images would be moved to the uploads directory and their data would be added to the pictures table.

Hello, your script is great and what you promise us in the next release is very good ( user comments power !!!)
I just wanna warning you about something, i hope it would be easy to hack some code so that users (even already logged) would enter their name anyway. (because all album scripts work the way > logged -> so no need to enter your name when you comment =>> BUT i don't want this)

Something else VERY important !!!
I exept the script (only few anothers scripts work this way but i don't like them so i don't use them) to SHOW in the index page, the RECENT images affected by a comment (the same way yours script shows "last add" ... but it would be great to show "last comments" with all customisation you could imagine

You made a great job !

(also in the future it yould be better to display a photo not directly in *.jpg or else but rather embbeded in some window > if you add comments feature it is the only way anyway)

That option will be made available when user accounts are added following the v0.5 release.

Have a problem with the thumbnail view. Read you have to have GD2 installed, and my webhotel has GDlib installed, is that the same thing?

Hi Johanna,

Unzip then upload the attached file to your server andd run it in your browser. Search the file for gd. First, does it exist? If it does, does the table below it contain:

GD Support enabled
JPG Support enabled
PNG Support enabled


If so, then GD is installed. PM me your Zenith login details and I'll take a look at your configuration for you

According to gd_check.php GD is enabled, but I am sorry, i cannot send you password and all that to my admin part of Zenit. I do not want to give away all the passwords and so on to my mysql database. Is there no other way? :'(

Are you running the script on a Windows server by any chance? The installer will need to be updated for it to work in Windows, which will hopefully be done in v0.6.

ok I got it working, my config was to blame Im use to linux servers not windows! But i would still to be able to gave catagories on the main page with a thumbnail rather then the dropdown. Thanks!

when i try to upload i only get empty dots where the picture should be...the file doesnt seem to upload...

The most likely reason is an incorrect server Internet path (the one that looks like http://yoursite/gallery/uploads/)
