Full Version: Internet wont connect after format

Hi,

I just formated my pc, and before I did it,my ADSL was working fine, so after formating, I put in the ADSL instalation cd, and it wont let me do anything, keeps saying, error, please reset the gatway,reboot your pc etc, I did but it keeps happening, and theres nothing wrong with the modem or cables because I tried it with my other pc and it works fine, its just this peice of **** pc that keeps on getting problems, blue screens everyday etc, thats why I formated, now this, what could be the problem,I installed windows service pack 2 before trying to install the ADSL, could that be the problem?, this pc is about to get the hammer soon pinch.gif

oh and I called my ISP, they said its a PC problem,I dont know how this can happen, I just did a clean windows install -_-

First thing's first, check to see if you have the right ethernet / NIC drivers.

Right-click My Computer,

Properties,

Hardware tab,

Click on Device Manager

Open "tree" Network Adapters

See if there is anything that does not have the drivers installed.

(if there is...)

All you need to do is get your motherboard model number, or network card model number, and google it.

Drivers are usually easy to find, assuming thats the problem with your fresh-install

yehh check to see that you DO have some drivers installed on the system for your ethernet card so that your PC can communicate with the card.....

yep thanks for the replys, i called medion and those hos told me check the support cd,and since it doesnt auto load,i will have to explore the cd myself, 60 folders latter I found the drivers for the ethernet card. now the net works, cheers.
