Hi,
I am running Windows 98SE and just lately my hard drive is constantly whirring away. It seems that a programme is continually writing to it. If I leave the PC alone after a while it will stop writing, but when I start to use it again it starts to write again. This causes problems when I try to copy a CD (usually this results in a ruined disc) or when I try to run Scandisc or Defrag. I have tried CTRL/ALT/DEL and stopping every running programme and I've installed a freeware programme called EndItAll, but still no luck. I don't think it is a virus because I have Trend PCCillin installed and receive several updates a week, it also has a built in Firewall. I also use Window Washer and Adaware at least once a week. I am at the end of mt tether, can anyone help please?

I'm having a few problems with my PC so I hope I can find the answer here. My user name is the letters of my real name rearranged, I thought it was quite funny. Anyway, nice to be a member :O) |
