Its me again!
After much dithering I decided to take the leap and upgrade to XP. I knew from the Upgrade Report that I would need new drivers for my modem, Intel V92 HaM Data Fax Voice, and I downloaded drives for XP before I started the upgrade.
During the process I got an error message saying "Upgrade pack D:6\win9Xmig\PRINT\MIGRATE.DLL failed in query version with error code 998. Setup cannot process this pack."
Other than that everything seemed to go smoothly. When the upgraded was completed I tried to reinstall the modem but the system would not recognise it and in the end I uninstalled XP so that I could access the internet.
Can anyone help me to overcome the modem problem and also explain the meaning of the error message and how to correct the error?

I'm (still) using Win ME. I keep getting the following error message from Dr Watson:
The application or one of its DLLs used an uninitialized function pointer variable or attempted to use a DLL which has already been freed.
Module Name: <unknown>
Application Name: Spool32.exe
Description: Spooler Sub System Process
Product: Microsoft® Windows® Millennium Operating System
Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation
Can anyone tell me what it means and how I can correct the problem?
Also when I try to log in to Yahoo, Download Wonder opens and tries to download coget.dll from MS Downloads but the download always fails after 2-3 seconds.
Can anyone explain this?

I am trying to set up an identity for my wife in Internet Explorer 6. My ISP is ntlworld and I have set up an account for her and obtained an email address.
I have set up an identity for her in IE but when I log her identity on I get an error message saying that 'POP address ntlworld cannot be found' even though I am already logged on.
She thinks I'm a real duffer 'cos I told her it would be easy to set up an email address for her so I'd be grateful for any help in saving my reputation.

Yesterday, after backing up some data files onto CD-RW, I got the following error message:
"An unmounted disc error has occurred. Back up data and format disc."
At first I thought that the disc referred to was the CD but I appears that it was, in fact, the hard disc
I restored the system to an earlier date (I'm running Win ME) and everything seems OK.
Just in case though, I've backed up everything I need to but what I'd like to know is just what the error message means, how the problem is likely to have happened and is it really necessary to reformat my hard disc.
Finally if I really do need to do the reformat, having backed everything up, how do I go about it.
I hope this is not all too much to ask but would really appreciate some help.

After between 20 and 30 minutes on the web I get a pop up telling me that my system is dangerously low on memory. On checking I find that system resources are 1%.
About 5 minutes after disconecting from the internet and closing down open windows the resources level returns to 65%.
I assume that the problem has something to do with temp files created as I surf but I can't find any way to stop it happening.
I am using IE 6.0 and have 512 SDRAM.
Any suggestions please?
