Hey, it's been a while since I've been here, but I've been traveling a lot with a new job so I don't get as much time to lend a hand as I used to.
Anyway, I have a puzzling problem hopefully someone can help me work out. The issue is occasionally, without warning or consistency, a browser window will open up and direct itself to some search engine. Either Lycos, Altavista, Wingnut, and I'm sure others. I've run ad aware, spybot, hijackthis, cwshredder, AVG and nothing is showing up, nor is anything really out of the ordinary. I've checked the registry for entries in the most common places and they're o.k. as well. It will usually open a browser soon after boot up, but after that there doesn't seem to be any time frame for it. I've done a ton of searching on the web and thus far haven't found anything. One interesting note, it doesn't appear to occur if I boot in safe mode. It doesn't seem to be altering anything in the browser or going to web sites or anything truly malicious that I can tell (though who knows), it's just a nuisance. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated Sorry, I meant to post this in the general pc questions, I clicked the wrong button. Sorry.
