Hi everyone. Hi Ali.

I got a new card the other day and noticed that DirectX is saying the card has 512MB, when it only has 256MB. When the computer starts the bios message says 256MB. Know what's up with this?

Hello everyone.

Is there anything that could prevent fsockopen() from working correctly? I have two servers(windows and linux) and am having no trouble with calling fsockopen().

Problem is I have received an email for support with a component I developed which uses fsockopen(). The only difference I can see (between both my servers and this other server) in the phpinfo() readout is that socket support is not enabled on this other server. However the guys host is telling him that it is available and referred him(as I think everyone does) to php.net for fsockopen() info.

I am under the impression that fsockopen() is part of the PHP core and needs no special directives to use. Therefore socket support enabled may not even come into it. pinch.gif

Does anyone know what the prob is, or how I may be able to track some errors when calling fsockopen()?

Hi. original.gif

Am developing an upload script and am testing the mimetype before doing anything with the uploaded file. The files to be uploaded with this script are of php type. The server variable (on windows) is telling me this;
CODE
$_FILES['userfile']['type'] = 'application/octet-stream'

Howver php.net, and the books i've got, are telling me this;
CODE
mime_content_type('test.php') = 'text/plain'

I can't use mime_content_type because the default for this function is set to off in the php ini and I have to assume that will be the case across other servers. Is there a difference between mime_content_type() function and the $_FILES['uploadfilehere']['type'] server var?

A simle text file with the .txt extension is passing this test, a php file is not;
CODE
if( $_FILES['userfile']['type'] != 'text/plain' ) {
     $error_upload = "Error with Upload: The file is not plain text.";
     Redirect("index2.php?option=$option&act=templates", "$error_upload");
}

Is the mime type for php not 'text/plain'? Could allowing people to upload a file type of application/octet-stream be damaging? The users are authenticated before they can get access to this function, but I want to play it safe. There is always the chance of getting a disgruntled administrator realmad.gif biggrin.gif

Hi there. original.gif

Is there a way to replace a window.onload call so that you can still use a javascript?

I am developing a component for Joomla! CMS and this means by the time it gets to loading my component the <head> is long gone. I can't modify the <head> tags in the CMS unless it were only for my own use. If only things were so easy.

Aswell as trying to require the js from the output HTML class, i tried pasting it straight into the HTML class for the output and just calling the function which is normally called from a window.onload. Nothing seems to work. online2long.gif

All the script does is determine select box options. ie Make a selection from the first dropdown which determines the options in the second dropdown.

I don't have much experience with javascript, so I had a look around for one. Of the scripts I found, this one seemed to handle things well. So, instead of attaching the script, it can be found here; http://www.bobbyvandersluis.com/articles/u...namicselect.php

Is there a way to manipualte this js, or alternatively is there another way/script that can handle my problem?

Hi Guys. original.gif Sites looking good Ali. thumbsup.gif

Over the past few days a group of mates and I have been getting a 'legacy' system going. It is a Pentium 133 with 64MB of RAM and we got the 98 SE OS running on it. We come across some HD's, with one guy saying that his HD was 20GIG [when hooked up to a Macintosh], however, when hooked up to the legacy sytem [PC] it is only registering 3.2GIG.

Is it possible for HD's to change drive size between different systems and/or platforms, or is my mate with the '20GIG' getting his HD's mixed up? shrug.gif The HD in question is a Seagate - I did a quick google and could only find a max 9GIG on any specification for that companies drives. I am almost sure that a HD cannot change size [it does sound silly saying it like that], but would like some confirmation from a more specialised source. read.gif

Thanks.
