Hi, I have a problem with my 'Taskbar'.Its set to auto hide,however it does not disappear when i move my mouse away from it.

I have gone to the taskbar options list and removed the tick next to autohide,then re ticked it,the taskbar vanishes the first time,but remains 'on top' afterwards.I have played around with 'on top' settings but to no avail.

When i have a window open in 'full screen' then it works,i've just done a 'clean' install of xp pro,and its worked in 'maximise'/'minimise' mode before but not now!

* * * USB 2.0 CARD READER CONFLICT * * *

I have a problem with my ‘mass storage device’.ie a card reader(internal) that I have connected to my system.

Originally I bought a USB2.0 card which came with a lead and three front bay ports.ebuyer

However after I bought a digital camera I decided that a reader was the way to go so I bought a USB2.0 six in one reader.IN-WIN

I have connected the device to the Usb 2.0 card and when I insert a microdrive or compact flash etc…the drive opens to display my pictures,its fast and really easy,also if I goto ‘my computer’ all six drives are displayed no problem.(so the card and the device are obviously working).On reboot however,no drives are present in ‘my computer’ so I goto system/device manager and I can see a system conflict 'yellow' tab next to the ‘mass storage device’,also it says that there is already another driver present?i have tried to update,used the disc that came with the reader(even though it does say that if you use XP you shouldn’t need it).
Now if I either remove the leads from either the card or the bay port reader device then plug em back in,hey presto the drives all magically reappear and the devices work again(with no conflicts)as they should, until I reboot,then iam faced with the same problem?

I think that somewhere there is a duplicate driver for mass storage devices,and on reboot the system is trying to allocate both to this device,then its like what now cause it has a conflict of resources?

Please help someone,it’s a real pain,for the last month I have had the (full)tower pulled out and everytime I want to upload my pictures,with minimum fuss via the card reader.I have to pull the lead off the back off it,kinda defeats the object of a hassle free picture transfer!

Does anyone know of a 'good' cheap keyboard either USB or PS2,That will let me plug a ps2 mouse into?

My girlfriend has a laptop and seems to think that you can buy k.boards which have ps2 connectors on the side to attach a mouse to.

Any info on makes/models,much appreciated.

ABIT MOBO / ATHLON XP

HI,

I have been running an ABIT KG7 MOBO with 256(unregistered ddr) and a 1700xp+ Amd Athlon for a while now but would like to upgrade the processor.

Does anyone know any compatibility problems with the Abit and say a 2000xp+ Athlon or a 2100xp+?

Will i need to upgrade my bios?

The 'soft menu' abit bios only lists a amd 1900 xp +.Should i select 'user define' and adjust the multipliers appropriatly?

Hi again!

I've got another annoying problem regarding connecting to the net...

I have my homepage set to google,cause
a.It loads up in a flash!
b.It's very useful.
Well the problem i have is that if i leave the pc on for sometime,when i connect it DIALS>CONNECTS>DISPLAYS THE TWIN PC ICONS ON TASKBAR.However it just won't display the page,the 'animated' hourglasses are turning,but nothing else.It is definately connected though.
Sometimes it just displays google but won't connect untill i select another page.On all counts it seems to keep reverting to offline status,i goto file etc and untick but the problem remains.
If i power down,then back up or reset it connects straight away,my mate has xp and gets it to,we are both on freeserve is it traffic related or syncronisation between offline pages etc...
Also my girlfriend has xp home,but it never displays the two pc icons why?How can i get it back for her(don't say ie 6.0 re-install!).?
