I bought some blank DVDs ( + R) for the computer (but haven't used any yet).

Last night, I wanted to record something from the TV, so I tried to use one of these.

The unit displayed "unable to read".

I've just been to Tesco and noticed that some DVDs are +R and some are -R.

I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THERE WERE DIFFERENT TYPES ! and I don't know whether the ones I've got are going to be suitable for use on the computer.

I wonder if someone could please explain the difference please, and do I need different DVDs for the TV and the computer? wtf.jpg [/font]

Sorry, I thought FAQ stood for Frequently Asked Questions !

I wasn't sure where to post it, and didn't consider it a "Technical Question".

Not to worry - I'll ask elsewhere.

Hi Janet,
What dvd recorder do you have,??mine records on plus or minus, it should tell you which discs it records on in the handbook. I use dvd-rw so that I can wipe and use again, dvdr plus or minus are record once only.

Thanks, Bob.

The DVD I tried was RW, but it was unwrapped, and I remembered, I'd previously been trying to use it on the computer. I didn't realise they were single play only!

I've checked the DVD recorder handbook, and it appears that RAM would be a better option to RW.

Thanks for your help.

Bob

Following on from my DVD questions yesterday, I've been to Currys, and it would appear that for my Panasonic DVD recorder, I have to buy specific Panasonic DVDs ! .......TYPICAL crazy.gif

They are RAM as opposed to RW.
