Does anyone know if there is a way to preserve your laptop's identity if someone stole it? The scoundrel would go online and if my computer had a specific identity, wouldn't the computer's identity reveal itself? I'm not expressing myself very well, but is there a place to register your vital information where someone could trace it were it stolen??? If I'm not mistaken your MAC address should stay the same.
Here's a link that might give you some more info on tracing a laptop. www.ztrace.com This post has been edited by AVERT: Dec 6 2004, 11:03 PM -------------------- |

Yep, AVERT's right. Every network card has a unique MAC address; no two are ever the same.
