Help! I loaded too much on my computer!
Can any one help? My computer is a old 486/66 and when I try to log on and it starts up in Safe Mode and also the password screen wont come up! |

sorry cant help u much there. i can do anything new but thoses old ....
old 486's only got what...a few mb hard drive...i think. also what do u mean you loaded too much on your computer? like is your harddrive maxed out or can your computer not handle all the prosseses? -------------------- |

if u loaded too much software then u might want to think about reloading or uninstalling some of the programs that you installed

My Hard Drive is 1 gb and I don't wan't to lose the stuff on my hard drive. Could I Go through DOS and backup every thing?

If you went through DOS I think the only capabilty you would have to back up your items would be to a floppy. Not sure though

A few ideas:
Buy a new small hard disk and ask them to copy files from the old, or do this yourself by setting the new HD as slave and connecting it to CD-ROM ide ribbon cable (only if you know what you are doing) Or take your Hard Disk to someone (who knows what you are doing) with a computer with CDR/RW, connect your HD as slave and copy contents to CD. Or the painful way of backing up to 100s of floppies using WinZip (shudder) But, If it was me, I would buy a new PC (or second hand if tight on money, even if it’s a PIII 450Mhz) -------------------- ![]() |
