Recently, my mouse pointer has started becoming paralyzed for about 3 or 4 seconds after left clicking. During this interval, the keyboard is also disabled.
After the interval everything appears to be working normally. There has been no other significant change to my system as far as available RAM, available disk storage, or other system resources that I have observed. Only other changes are that I have recently downloaded several freeware packages and deleted most of them. I am running Windows 95 on a 133Mhz system with 48Meg RAM. Any thoughts about what could be doing this? |

Hi there,
I don't know what it could be other than Windows loading your menu items. Could the freeware apps you installed have added any items to the menu? If so then such delays can occur. Take a look and then post a reply. -------------------- ![]() ![]() Things that I don't suck at: Photography (flickr, JPG Mag), "Don't bail; the best gold is at the bottom of barrels of crap!" -Randy Pausch I have people-skills goddamnit! Which menu? Start? Right-click? Other??
I know one of the apps did add an item to my browser right-click menu. But I have the problem even when my browser isn't open. All of the apps add start menu items, but I don't know why that should slow things down. Can you explain your question in a bit more detail?? Thanks. |

Hi there,
Sorry for not being specific, I meant the right-click pop up menu (where the delay occurs) When I right-click on my desktop and click on New, it takes about 5-10 seconds to load the items in the "New" submenu. because of the fact that some programs integrate themselves into the Windows shell and add their icons everywhere. I don't know whether this would be considered a problem or more of an annoyance. Try booting in Safe Mode and see if you still get the delay. If you don't, then it's probably what I suggested earlier. -------------------- ![]() ![]() Things that I don't suck at: Photography (flickr, JPG Mag), "Don't bail; the best gold is at the bottom of barrels of crap!" -Randy Pausch I have people-skills goddamnit!
