I appear to have lost a whole folder, the one in which I keep the majority of my documents! Does anyone know how I can attempt to recover it?

I can't remember when I last accessed it, but it will have been fairly recently.

After a bit of searching, I've found the file/folder in D:\Backup\My Documents\
but I have no idea how it got there, or how to recover it to where it came from!

Hi Janet
try...... programs / accessories / system tools / backup status and configuration... select restore files. I dont know if this will work for you, personally I have never used it. but it is worth a try...

If that does not work. right click on the folder and select send to select your documents and it should move to there

I have just come back to let you know that my System Tools does not contain "Backup Status & Configuration", and have seen your latest message (as above). So. I've tried that, and the folder has gone back where it came from. As simple as that!

I am still at a loss as to how it disappeared in the first place, but everything seems fine now. Thank you very much for your continued help.

While I'm here, I thought I'd set up my profile to receive an email notification if my post is answered. Nothing ever arrives - I have to keep coming back to see if anyone has offered a solution.

Hi Janet,
Did you tick send email by default then in the dropdown immediately then the tab at the bottom saying amend my email it should work .
I have set mine up to receive email when you reply by option dropdown top right of this topic and selected track this topic then selected immediately., if I get an email saying you have posted and your post is telling me that you have set it up, I will repost so that you can see if it worked.

Copy of help section below

Email Notification of new messages
Here is the topic you chose to view
This board can notify you when a new reply is added to a topic. Many users find this useful to keep up to date on topics without the need to view the board to check for new messages.

There are three ways to subscribe to a topic:
•Click the 'Options' menu at the top of a topic, and go to 'Track this topic'
•On the posting screen when replying to or creating a topic, check the 'Enable email notification of replies?' checkbox.
•From the 'Email Settings' section of your User CP (My Controls) check the 'Enable Email Notification by default?' option, this will automatically subscribe you to any topic that you make a reply to.
Please note that there are four different types of subscriptions:

Immediate Email Notification
This option will send out a notification immediately after a new topic or reply has been made regardless of your activity.

Delayed Emailed Notification
This option will send out a notification if a new topic or reply has been made and you're not active on the board.

Daily Email Digest
This option will send out a daily digest showing all new replies or topics for that day.

Weekly Email Digest
This option will send out a weekly digest showing all new replies or topics for that week.

You are also able to subscribe to each individual forum on the board, to be notified when a new topic is created in that particular forum. To enable this, click 'Forum Options' menu at the top forum you wish to subscribe to, and click the 'Subscribe to this forum' link.

To unsubscribe from any forums or topics that you are subscribed to - just go to the 'Subscriptions' section of 'My Controls' and you can do this from there.

Did you select track this topic in the option dropdown. and when it went to the next window you selected immediately. if you did, you should have received one. I just received another for your last post. have you got a spam filter box on your mail, sometimes site email notifications are seen as spam and you have to allow them. I always check my bt yahoo spam in case it has a mail that is not spam.

When I click on Track this Topic, I receive the message "You are already subscribed to this forum or topic"

I have added @cyberiapc.com to my safe list, so I'm hoping this will solve the problem.

If it doesn't, don't worry any further, Bob. You've spent enough time on this!
