I have just bought a new pc (less than a week old), my problem is it just shuts itself off now and again, can anyone help? lookaround.gif

what are you usually doing when it shuts down? how long does it keep working before shutting down? (if it's after a few minutes then open the case & check if cpu fan is working) usually it's a cpu overheating & it could seriously harm the cpu if you keep using it in this condition. it's still under warranty so u can call the customer support people too.

if it comes with a windows pre-installed then look into the start menu & search for some utility that let's u monitor cpu fan speed & temperature.
if there is none, go to the computer or motherboard manufacturer's web site & search for a kind of probe software that does the same thing.

you may eventually need to try 2 things: put some thermal paste between cpu & heat sink to help with heat conduction. (http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_instructions.htm)
if that didn't help, you may need a more powerful cpu fan.

Thanks Amir, I called customer support and they took it back, i'll let them sort it but thanks anyway.
