Hey Everyone,

I live in the heart land of the united states, and a lot of news I hearabout the US, comes from the US so it is generally one sided. So I was wondering what everyone else's views were on the US and it's government, even from those who live in it.

I personally have a negative view of it, it used to be a great place to live, not so much anymore. It has gotten to the point where the US thinks it needs to police the world, when we barely have enough troops here to secure the Mexican boarder! I won't touch on the president because that should be another fourm completely. whistling.gif

So what do you think?

Exactly what I think,
Even so to the point as no even going to school there, just because of the government ect.

There are tons of ignorant people, but there are also a lot of respectable people and they all agree that they don't want to live in the USA.

I myself, love living in Canada and I will most likely get my education and live here for a great part of my life.

I think any superpower has to be moderate in its involvement in world affairs. I don't agree with the idea that a superpower should be completely isolated and have nothing whatsoever to do with the rest of the world nor do I agree with the idea that a superpower has to police the planet, as you put it. But unfortunately, balancing human zests with universal morals is a challenge.

Oh and I think you've got bigger problems than foreign policy: I went to grad school in the US and the whole tipping business drove me crazy! I'm not used to it and so it always got me into all kinds of awkward situations, not to mention that it completely ruined my plan for how much I was going to spend every month.

One time I was visiting Florida and this lady stops next to me and asks if I wanted a ride to our hotel on her strange-looking bike. So I say sure, thinking what a nice and generous person. 5 minutes later I get off, say "thanks a lot, appreciate it, etc." and a scene filled with awkwardness pursues.

Anyway, sorry for the off-topic story.

we can even end up blaming other countries for not joining US in the invasions if we find the perfect answer to the question of "why do we need to attack middle east".

and finding the answer is not sth we, who do not know much about economy & history , can even touch upon.

I always believed that since we are living creatures after all , we have to fight for the limited resources on the planet. we don't fight directly anymore but our politicians are conducting the competition on behalf of us. I think US government is doing what any government is supposed to do (win the competition for it's nation) but they're just not doing it perfectly.

may be if we all knew the true reasons behind the policies, we would have been fighting each other individually. i think the world is now a better place since we can simply blame our governments but in fact that is our own will which is reflected as a war or invasion. we don't want to give up over-consuming oil, we don't want to pay more for a cup of coffee, (just some examples, ok?) so someone else's life should be sacrificed for our pleasure and that's what politicians are doing for us! I love them original.gif
