I tried to do a update on Windows and it tried to install something and I don't have a file it needs so now it tries to install it everytime I turn on the computer so how do i get it to stop

If you have XP, when starting your pc keep tapping F8 or F5 whichever gives you the option to select start in safe mode, then programs / accessories /system tools / system restore, then select a date before you did the installing and follow the procedure
