Ok, I just got a new job and will finally have enough money to save up to buy one of the three new consoles but i'm not sure which to get.

First off just let you all know, I haven't really been "big" into gaming since the old playstation days. I have a ps2 but use it pretty much just for Madden/Grand Theft Auto/and a few greatest hits games like Killzone/Tekken/ect. I'm a college student and ever since high school it seems like I haven't been able to afford any games so I sorta lost my interest in games. I've always been a huge fan of the old Metal Gear and Resident Evil games but I'm not sure if they're still as good as the PS One days. So I need some advice.

Most of all I don't want to buy a failure, you know, this generation's dreamcast.

Wii: I haven't bought a Nintendo system since the days of Super Nintendo. I'm interested in the new controller but I'm not sure if the library is something i'd be very interested in. I don't really like RPG's or their "other" games, though they are kind of a guilty pleasure in some aspects. The price is persuading me but still, i'm not sure I want to drop $200 on a system that I wouldn't be sure I'd play all that much. I'd have to really be sold on a Wii for me to want to purchase one, but I'm definitly more interested than I was in any of the past Nintendo systems.

Xbox 360: I've always liked Xbox but never really dug the controller of the system (I was a huge playstation fan) so I was kind of biased when the OG Xbox came out. I sucked at Halo and never go to into it. I think right now i'm the most interested in the 360 because I feel like it's in my affordiablity level and there were some decent launch games. I've yet to play one so i'm not sure, but i'm definitly really into it. I also have never played any games online and it seems like this system is set up for that.

PS3: $500-$600? I know they've said that they want to make this like a computer but I don't really want that, I already dropped $1000 on my laptop. I just want something that can play games. The controller being similar to Wii's might be kinda cool but still $600 for the top notch version? Also how much are games going to cost if the system is that much? I see they have some good games being launched on the system but I doubt i'll want to pay more than $60 for a new title. It's still playstation and i'm sentimental about it and enjoyed the past two playstations very much, but i'm worried about this because i've heard bad press about the price and even some of the most devout playstation fans are kind of giving this system a second look. I really don't care about the HD or whatever dvd capabilites, I just want a good gaming system that won't be a bust.

So yea, kind of long but that's my concerns. I've asked a few people but it seems like most people have already decided which system they like most and I haven't recieved an honest answer. Too me it seems like the 360 might be the best for what I'm looking for, but I just want some info from you guys if possible. Thanks!!!

I tihnk it entirely depends on what you would be doing. If you're mainly playing single player games, it would be advisable to wait for a PS3, playstation have always had better single player games than multiplayer. However if you're up for multiplayer most of the time then the Wii will be the opposite of the PS3, with a heavy emphasis on multiplayer. I would have to say the 360 is the safest of all three consoles, everything is known about it, it has a decent selection of games and a great online system.

I strongly suggest waiting for TGS (this week I think) where Nintendo and Sony should spill all the beans or maybe just some more beans. Whatever happens I say you should wait for all three consoles to come out so you can play them and decide what you really want.
