grab an amd 64 with 1 mb cache , in other words the "clawhammers" they are sweet!

edit :

about the motherboard you have a tough decision to make whether you want to go with the new pci express or stay with agp..... pci express is still quite a fairly new technology however you can still get some amazing agp graphics cards to be honest if your pocket is big enough id buy a pci express board , and a socket 939 amd check out the socket 939 boards at msi :

i dunno, im an intel man myself.....

i dont think u really need 64 bit or will need for quite some time, i mean its a good invsetment for the future but by the time you will actually need it if about the time to get a new pc anyway....

if you're a noob, just go simple, no pci express or ddr2, practice at first

this computer im on was the first i built

-p4 3.0C [i oc'ed it to 3.2 for a while, then took it back down, pretty pointless if u ask me]
-1 gig of value ram from corsair, [2.5 i think, 2x512 dual channeled]
-Abit IS7E [shoulda got the regular]
-radeon 9600 made by saphire
-80 gig western digital with 8mb cache [i GREATLY recommend a hdd with 8mb of cache
-20 mb western digital [actially it wasnt really WD, i got scammed]
-lite-on CD-RW
-Sony DVD
-Raidmax scorpio 868 case [nice looking]
-logitech wireless optical combo
-Samsung flat screen 17" [not flat panal, regular CRT]
-some other things like fans and router, speakers, etc...

now that i know more about computers, i would have made it different. i bought a few things from websites other then NEWEGG.com such as tiger direct but if u live in US, i STRONGLY suggest newegg.com for ALL of your parts

THEY WILL NEVER SCREW YOU, their dilivery is cheap as hell, often free and is fedex so its fast and reliable....NEVER SCREW YOU, prices are just about top notch

anyhow, i would have gone for better/faster ram.... better vid card [but not nessicary] would have bought my 20 gig HDD from newegg and not have gotten screwed.... would have gotten different mobo [mother board- the IS7-E has no raid but the original IS7 that cost an xtra $10 had it, i shoulda gotten that] The only thing i still would have gone with was the processor really

mine cost around 1100 with monitor and case [bootleg windows and such] id recommend a pentium but thats just me, i built my friend a comp with a 2.8E cpu with 1 mb of cache, NICE

strongly suggest newegg

pm me if u want some help

The problem with 64bit operating processor is the software availability.

Even the OS is Win XP 64bit is sound like beta.

That's why intel invent a multcore CPU,
It works with 2 processor working in parallel
which improve current 32 bit software.

It gain performance because
1st instructions will take over by processor 1
and 2nd instructions take over by processor 2
They will later joint back, they solve problems
faster, but I still not sure how much heat
it will generated.

Just like Cray Super Computer with
a lots of 386 CPU working together?

Remember Intel 386 (32bit) processor
only support 16 bit OS and by the time
it reaches the era Pentium was born... lookaround.gif

Just like do 256MB VPU really needed on game today.
Currently there's less than 3 games that need that memory power.
