this may be a stupid question, but - is it possible to make an emergency start-up disk for windows me after my computer has malfunctioned (ie. it won't start up). as i say, it may be a stupid question

I am sure you know this but you should make an ER disk before you have problems cos you can also have a copy or the registary on the floppy incase that has also been corrupted.
To get round this find somebody with the same windows version and make an ER disk but dont include a copy of the registary, this should work so long as the registary is ok *fingers crossed*. Steve |

It has got to be running to make the disk READ THIS If Windows is already misbehaving and you can't make a boot floppy, insert your Windows 98 or Windows Me CD-ROM and reboot. Check the boot options section of your system's CMOS setup program to find out whether your PC supports CD-ROM boot-up. To open your CMOS setup program, restart your computer and press Delete, F1, F8, or whatever key your PC tells you to press to enter setup. If your system can boot from its CD-ROM, you'll see the same DOS prompt brought up by the boot floppy; This is an extract from the above READ THIS -------------------- REGARDS
