Hi everyone. I thank you all in advance for helping out with this situation.

Background
My friends computer was running really slow it felt like it would get a parking ticket. So we sat down and Clicking on RUN and then msconfig. We clicked onthe Startup tab and removed Itunes and a few other items that didnt seem to belong to the PROGRAMS category. Then we saved the changes and the computer stopped being connected to the internet. We then went back and re-did what we had done but it has not been happy!!

We are in Toronto and Rogers wireless is the primary provider here. So I called them today and they told me that there is an old version of Norton that is conflicting with the Rogers Online Protection so I should remove both Rogers Online Protection and the Old Norton and then reinstall the Rogers Online Protection only. I did as they said...but I could only do this for the Rogers related software as the Norton (even though it shows on the toolbar, I cant seem to find it in the ADD/REMOVE Hardware option). Not even in the ALL PROGRAMS. So it is stil there...and I still cant connect to the internet sad.gif. I dont think anything is wrong with the router or the modem as my laptop is working okay and is connected so far. So it has got to be her computer.

What should I do?What should I check?I see that the wireless is showing as connected....but very few in and out packets.

Pls advise, id greatly appreciate it.

Sal

Hi,
One thing you could try until someone comes up with a better idea is....
start / programs / accessories / system tools / system restore, select a date before you changed anything and restore to it. see if that helps.
