4 days ago i had a problem with the sound of my sys...it was getting choppy..so i decided to remove the soundcard(ES1869) and plugged back on the ISA port. Now the sound doesnt play...everytime i open a sound file the media player shows opening of file but the system hangs..
Windows device manager shows the device as installed but the sound simply doesnt play... wat could be the problem... i;m running windows xp and 98se both -------------------- my system is,
athlon 1800xp+,512 mb pc 133 sd ram, DFI AM75-TC motherboard,Creative Gforce 2Gts graphic card 32 mb vram, 80 gb hdd(master),8.4 gb (slave),52x cd drive,52x samsung dvd/cd rw combo,etc. |

does this happen on both windows installations? is the card isa or pci? did u install drivers urself or windows did it? r u sure that is the right driver? how do u recover from the freezed system?

does this happen on both windows installations? is the card isa or pci? did u install drivers urself or windows did it? r u sure that is the right driver? how do u recover from the freezed system? yes it happens on both the systems...the soundcard is ISA.. windows installed it on XP n for 98 it needs mannual installation rite now i;ve removed the soundcard..xp hangs for a while but recovers after closing mediaplayer -------------------- my system is,

do u find any related error msg in event viewer?
considering that it's isa and probably 10 years old, i think it is probable that the card is faulty. (try on some other pc) also in XP, try removing the card from device manager, then installing ur own driver from Add/Remove hardware > Have disk option so that windows doesn't pick up a driver for u automatically. |
