4 days ago i had a problem with the sound of my sys...it was getting choppy..so i decided to remove the soundcard(ES1869) and plugged back on the ISA port. Now the sound doesnt play...everytime i open a sound file the media player shows opening of file but the system hangs..
Windows device manager shows the device as installed but the sound simply doesnt play...
wat could be the problem...
i;m running windows xp and 98se both

do u find any related error msg in event viewer?
considering that it's isa and probably 10 years old, i think it is probable that the card is faulty. (try on some other pc)
also in XP, try removing the card from device manager, then installing ur own driver from Add/Remove hardware > Have disk option so that windows doesn't pick up a driver for u automatically.
