Zenith Picture Gallery v0.8 Changelog and Download Instructions

Note: v0.8.6 DEV released!

Bug fixes and minor to moderate changes

+ Thumbnails creation code updated to allow pictures of varying widths and heights to be resized according to their relative dimensions instead of being forcefully resized to a set w x h.
+ Cookie names are appended with a pseudo-random tag.
+ Batch Add no longer needs a 'thumbs' directory. Thumbs are now directly piped to the browser.
+ 'Batch Add' and 'Rebuild Thumbnails' now work in cycles to prevent timeouts or the 'Go' button not appearing for large batches.
+ Double quotes in the news bar are converted to single quotes.
+ File names may now have .'s in them.
+ Adding single quotes in edit.php no longer truncates the string up to the single quote.
+ Single quotes are handled properly everywhere except for user account, category and picture names where they are currently illegal. Pictures with keywords that have single quotes in them are currently searchable, but do not show consistent behavior.
+ 'Escape characters' changed to 'Strip characters' in Admin CP.
+ A single quote may now be added to the array of Strip Characters.
+ User-input sanitizing methods for search and logins updated.
+ Batch added pictures, which don't store the name of the submitter, were not searchable on some machines.
+ The row for 'Other' removed in Edit Categories.
+ Editing categories reloads the page with the success/error message at the top.
+ Choosing 'Select a Category' on the main page now just loads display.php's default view.
+ Table rows in Admin CP are colored with alternate colors.
+ Better handling of search queries and category names between pages.
+ Full-size pictures are auto-centered and their window sizes are adjusted before the window is loaded.
+ Sorting of categories is now done case-insensitively.
+ Usernames and passwords can only be made up of alphanumeric characters and the underscore.
+ After adding a user account, the success or error message is displayed along with the original form.
+ User account names and passwords are required to be made up of alphanumeric characters and the underscore character.
+ Root admin password could not be changed.
+ User account names during login (and registration) are matched case-insensitively.
+ Dropdown box options in Admin CP may not have worked if the option values had been translated to another language.
+ Search author field maxlength changed from 12 to 32 and search query field maxlength set to 128.
+ Two user accounts with the same name cause problems in 'Manage User Accounts'.
+ Improved security precautions.
+ 'Pending Pictures; now shows the number of pending pictures, comments and users.
+ 'Go' button on main page style improved.
+ Admin CP option allows all member stats (currently, only submissions) to be recounted.
+ 'Rebuild Thumbnails' didn't recreate the thumbnail for the first picture.
+ Deleting a picture in 'Approve Pictures' didn't delete its thumbnail.

New features

+ Sub-categories that are fully configurable in the Admin CP.
+ Pictures in pic_details.php can be displayed in three different sizes. A default size can be set in the Admin CP. When the size is set to original, the picture doesn't need to be clicked to increment its views counter.
+ Display permissions can be set for categories to show or hide them.
+ User accounts that allow users to register and manage their own profile. Admins can turn this feature on or off or require users to verify their email address or wait for approval before being registered.
+ Members list.

1. Upload the following files to your main Zenith directory:

If you have customized your default skin, please back it up because you will need to overwrite its stylesheet file.

2. Run the file upgrade_tools/upgrader4.php from the browser to update your MySQL tables.

3. Log in to your Admin CP and click on 'Recalculate user stats'. Click on 'Go'. Now click on 'Manage User Accounts' and approve all your existing members. Now click on 'Setup and Configuration', scroll to the bottom and click on 'Update Settings'.

4. Finally, download and run the file zenith08_update_join_dates_etc.php from the address below to update all your current users so that their join dates aren't the epoch year of 1970. Please make sure you remove the file after you run it in order to prevent anyone else from running it again.

Congratulations, you should now be running v0.8!

Note: If you downloaded the zip file before June 6 10:30PM GMT please redownload and upload the modified admincp.php file. The file in the old zip file displayed category IDs instead of names in Approve Pictures.

If you downloaded the file before June 9 2:30PM GMT please redownload it and upload the modified admin_functions.php, edit.php, add.php, display.php, functions.php and zipfile.php files.
