Every time I turn on my computer, I have to restart 3 times to get it to work. It gets past the windows loading screen, then shows a screen saying that a dll (ati2dvag) gets stuck in an infinite loop. It works after 3 resatrts however. Ive tried replacing the dll and reinstalling from the graphics card CD.

However, I have found an article that interests me here:
http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windows/t-1...e-Loop-Fix.html

Anyhow, no more wait, give this a shot :

Right click-mouse over My Computer
Properties
Hardware(Tab)
Device Manager(button)
Click [+]next to System devices
right-mouse on CPU to AGP Controller (or whatever your controller is called, mine was SiS AGP)
Update Driver(button)

Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
Next(button)
Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.
Next(button)
Select PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
Next(button)
Finish(button)
Reboot.

The problem is, I cant find it in the devices manager. Can any one spot it out, or propose a different fix?

Ive downloaded the latest drivers. I dont seem to have the problem anymore, except now my desktops relaly screwy. It must be an incompatibility or something, because I remember it being like this some time before too.

Is that only because of drivers upgrade? Do u get any error messages? Will u look in the Event viewer for the most recent errors & post back?

Well. eventually with those new drivers, it started getting the same error again, so I switched back ot the ones on the CD.

Turn on comp: error screen
Restart: error screen
Restart again: get to login screen, but freezes
Restart yet again: and it works
Sry, I forgot about replying to this original.gif

I cant see anything in windows event viewer, only information files.

When sth is fixed after a few reboots, it looks to be a hardware problem rather than a driver or anything else.
This time turn the pc on & leave it wherever it stops (or if it restarts automatically press the Pause button on the top right corner of the keyboard), don't let it restart for 3 minutes & then reboot. If it got to windows & worked, then it could be a faulty graphics card. Can u test this card on some other PC?
You never posted the error msg anyway.

Ill try the 3 mins thing tomorrow, as it only seems to do this once every day.. The error is:

ati2dvag.dll
The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates problem with the device or the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly.

No need to try it then original.gif The answer is given. The rule of thumb is that no software problem is fixed after a few restarts!

I guess the solution u found in TechSpot worked because it disables the faulty feature of the mobo required by the card. (possibly degrades the card performance)

ok, You need to simulate the exact situations u had here! One day morning, before u turn the PC on, take out the card & install on some other PC. If it failed, the card is faulty, if didn't, ur mobo is bad. That's how i think. While on the other PC, check if PCI to PCI bridge exists.

Although it's unlikely, but u can try updating the graphics card driver & directX first, to comply with the error msg. (type DXDiag at Run, if it's not version 9.0C, then update it)

Hmm.. I don't have another comp. to test it on, and it is V9.0C. Waiting 3 minutes got it to go to the windows login scree, but it froze there 3 times

Try doing what u found on TechSpot for ur PCI Bridge 244E item. Again i say, it's not a software problem but degrading can turn off that incompatible feature.
